I'm taking a course this summer to go from Honor Algebra II to Honors Calculus/Analysis for my senior year, so I can take AP Physics as well. I have not had any trig yet but I have heard from mixed audiences that Pre-Calc is trig and the Pre-Calc is built upon trig (where you need to have a trig course to understand it). When I registered at my community college, they had me take an entrance test (complete horse****, several of the problems were wrong and I brought it to the attention of the people giving the test, they just simply said fill in the closest answer) and it qualified me to actually take Calculus I lol. So either I'm a really good guesser or I am ready for this class. The last thing my class is learning this year is logarythms. So what do you guys think, will I be ready for Pre-Calc or am I doomed to fail this course (can't drop it lol, already signed up so I have to suffer through it, but any help on things I should know before attending will help as well.).
At my school the first semester of Pre-Calc was what could be called trig. I don't understand the problem the natural progression is Algebra II, Pre-Calc, Calc. You aren't missing anything.
It's Alg II, Trig, Pre-Calc, Calc here. I think they stuck trig in there for students proceeding up the basic math courses an alternative to statistics. Thanks for the help and I hope I can pass this

alot of trig in precalc. It's all about learning functions that you will eventually manipulate in single variable calc (which is alot easier and usually doesn't require you to this kind of work by hand). It's geared towards college freshman who are going to take calc, and will basiclly include most of algebra II, and alot of trig stuff, as well as exponents/logs etc.
Truth be told, when I came into my school as a freshman, i had been out of highschool for already 6 years, forgot/never learned alot of basic math principles. I jumped right into precalc, and went on to be an applied math major. You don't really need a background in elmentary trig to take precalc.
