No, They just want attention or are trying to think out if in a different plane of existence or something - that is the only way I can justify it.

I thought the earth was a giant bowl of strawberry pudding.

Aha, the flat-earthers. The proof that George Orwell wasn't that far from the truth with his doublethink.
If anything, the most telling example of the frailty of the human mind is not the flat-earthers, mad as fruitcakes they undoubtedly are, but the people commenting below, attempting to give the "rational scientific reasons" for why the earth is round.
As Stephen Fry once put it, I wouldn't trust them to sit the correct way around on a lavatory.

I wouldn't be surprised if they really believed it. There are people who still think the Earth is 6000 years old.
People believe ridiculous things.

It gets worse. Hitler, if I recall rightly, under the influence of Hans Hoerbiger, sent a radar team to Svalbard. They were to point the radar apparatus up, in hopes of imaging the British fleet at Scapa Flow. The idea was, if you haven't guessed yet, that the Earth was indeed round, but we were on the inside of the globe. The expedition failed.
As for the flat-earthers, not even to mention the hollow-earthers, I have noted for many years that they are never, never allowed to present their side of the argument in articles such as these. This BBC piece mentions a few things, but a real case is not made. I have to wonder if they have no case, or are they being suppressed?

I was thinking the same thing myself. It's odd that the BBC piece was written in a tone of such skepticism, yet real evidence from the flat-earth camp was neither presented nor refuted. That's not to say I even remotely buy into the whole "government conspiracy" deal or that the earth is some sort of disk, but I am curious as to what arguments can be made for the theory at this point in science history.

Have you ever drawn a map of the earth? You always do it on flat paper.

since no human is big enough to play basketball with the earth (yet), we can't be certain of anything.

The way I see it, allowing someone to present "evidence" that the earth is flat would be about the same as allowing someone to present "evidence" of Scientology.
Incidentally, I live in southern Kansas City, Olathe. Just noticed you're up in the northern part.

Doesn't the earth rest on the back of a giant turtle?
