Default aac vbr by itunes?

i ripped most of my tracks to 192kbps vbr.... quicktime is showing me fixed 208kbps... is it itunes fault? i read somewhere that nero and winamp is better in ripping/encoding aac, is difference huge?

VBR bitrates are rarely the exact bitrate.. 192 VBR kind of means that the actual bitrate will vary according to the complexity of the file, but be around 192 Kbps. I use 192 Kbps VBR AAC for most of my ripping and it sounds great and the files are small.

Exactly!
Which means that its sheer luck to hit 192Kbps spot on..

thats what i mean... why is it that acc encoded by itunes is showned as fixed/constant, when it should be variable... acc by winamp is the true vbr...

Maybe iTunes shows its average bitrate? Just a guess..
