I'm having difficulties noticing the differences when I tune the sound of the SA6 with the treble ports. Is there something wrong with me or is the change very subtle?

I'm curious about this too... how exactly do you do this? I had the bass + port out of one of the earphones last night, looking at the size of hole it has. I held it up to a light, and the hole from the outside of the port doesn't look like it actually goes all the way through the inside surface. It actually doesn't look like a true 'port' at all. Should I take a safety pin and punch it through all the way? Hmmmmmm.......

Perhaps you can snap some digitals of yours, and post them.

-Cheers, Chris.

Actually, the before and after is the same for me. I can't really tell that there's a hole there, because it's very minuscule.

I just used a staple and pushed it carefully through the middle of the hole and, lo and behold, it popped out the other side, along with a little white gunk (not sure if that was blocking it or part of the port). But anyway, after doing that, I pulled it back out and the hole sort of closed up again back to its original state.

It might be nothing, but the bass seemed stronger after I had done it.

Default Beck

Anyone listen to Beck, and more specifically the 'Sea Change' album? It's very mellow, but great songwriting... lots of ballads. I've always loved the album, and to boot it is spectacularly recorded. There's so many layered acoustic guitars, triangles, strings, horns, mixed in with very subtle electronic effects that it totally shows off the SA6's. I'm unfortunately working late, but am loving listening to this album with the SA6/Vibez combo- simply in awe.

-Cheers.

I'm definitely ready to compare them to my SE530s. I have actually had those for the past couple of months. Tried the Images for a week (they are currently on eBay if anyone is interested), but still kept the SE530s in the end. Although the bass of the Images was outstanding, I felt the SE530s kept a nicer balance and clarity.

I was very interested to hear that the SA6s could compete with Shure's top universal model. Being able to "tune" my headphones with the SA6s will be interesting!

Does anyone know if the SA6 plug will fit the iPhone's recessed jack? I'm thinking not, but haven't seen anyone actually post this.

Jason, are you able to answer?

I decided to bite, I can't wait! They'll arrive here on Tuesday.

Do ya'll find that amping provides any discernable benefits for the SA6?

The jack is angled and larger than normal jack due to the chromed part. I don't have a iPhone to try it on but I highly doubt that it will fit. Jason has told other that they are developing new cable, so maybe they will have one that is iPhone friendly in the near future.

SA6 is very sensitive (110dB SPL/mW), so you don't need an amp for it to sound good. I have try it on my amps but never notice any significant improvement on SQ.

I tried them on my millet max, there was a very slight improvement in the bass compared to my clip, but I had to strain to hear the difference

Agree. I really don't get much, if any, benefit from amping the Sleeks, especially with the Sony or Sansa DAPs. With the Zune80, the bass boost is a nice addition (and the crossover on occasion). Another reason to own them, in my view. And also a reason to sell all but my Minibox (so long Penguin Classic).

I've still not really tested amping alone, I've tended to either use them straight out my iPod or out of computer --> Pico. 99% of the time it's been with Pico goodness.

I do not think the plug is compatible with the iPhone. I guess you have to wait until the guys at Sleek do a cable specifically for the iPhone. And thanks for reading TechPowerUp.com
