A lot of reviews of the Klipsch series has been less than stellar, so you might want to avoid that series.

Has anybody here listened to a production Sennheiser IE6? The CES impressions seemed positive, but nobody has apparently bought any. Would these be a fair comparison to the SA6 (aside from bass heaviness?)

The Senns aren't out yet. I am waiting on a Senn sales rep reply on when the first shipments are going out. Supposed to be this coming week or two but they all seem to have delays these days including the SA6's which were originally slated for back in October.
My final choice is down to the SA6, IE7 and CK10 and the CK10 is on the outside looking in at this point. All have their pros and cons.
And yeah, those Klipsch really seem to have disappointed, especially at the prices. I would take the SA6 at $250 or the IE7 at $222 over the $299 and $349 Klipschs'. People do like the gel tips though!

Actually they do on one situation: Bass+.
However, the leak is so tiny it shouldn't be any concern.

Been watching this thread with interest... I'm looking for something very similar to the SA6 system, though I'm not completely sold on true IEM insertion depth yet. I'll be using phones outside quite a bit, so I'm also a bit concerned about having the kind of isolation provided by a full IEM. I can handle canal phones such as the Sony EX90 or the Senn CX300, but the Shures that I tried (210s with foam inserts) were very uncomfortable having something that far into the ear canal. I'm also considering the new Pioneer SE-CLX9 canal phone system for those reasons.
Quick question about the SA6 cable options... (for JasonK or anyone else with some inside info): I'd like to find something with a short cable length, and the only option I see at the moment for the SA6 is a standard length cable. Are there plans to release a short cable for the SA6 as an optional accessory, or does such a thing already exist?

It would help if you specify length. There is no real "standard". I find the length of the SA6 cord to be shorter than most earphones which I like. For me, it is the perfect length to drop the cord down under my sweatshirt and reach my DAP that is on my hip. Unless you keep a small DAP in your shirt pocket, I'm not sure why you would want it shorter IMO.

Comfort wise, SA6 has the best fit among all my IEM (due to the really soft tips they have). However, it does insert relatively deep as most of its class required.
As for your question, SA6's cable is not really long (slightly short than most IEM out there actually) but sufficient. Any thing shorter will most like be found on canalphone with two parts cable (ie. Sennheiser CX400). I know Sleek Audio is developing a Bluetooth adapter for SA6 but not sure when that will become available. In any case, you can order an extra pair of cable than cut off the excess length and rewire a headphone jack. This way you can have any length you want.

Not only are the Sleek flanges very comfy (for silicone flanges), but I use Shure yellow foamies (the short ones that fit a range of phones, #EA120) with the SA6s and they are very, very comfortable. While they deliver true IEM isolation, they do not have to go very deep. For me, they are the perfect SA6 sleeve. That may not be true for others, but worth a try if comfort is important to you (and the flanges bother you for any reason). In fact, I have a set of Shure yellows on each of the treble tubes I use (treble= and treble+). Makes switching that much easier.

I was thinking a standard cable length was somewhere between 45"-65" (that seems to be the average I've seen). I'm actually looking for one of the two-part cables - a short cable with an extension (similar to what's on the ex90SL or the Senn CX400). I'll be using the phones a good chunk of the time with a bluetooth mic/receiver that is hung around my neck - thus wanting to find a short cord option.

Good idea on the second cable, ClieOS; thanks. I believe I did spot additional "standard length" cables for the SA6 for around $25 or so.
I'm still a bit concerned about the overall insertion depth... when you say "as most of its class required" are you referring to the class of headphone in general (IEM) or the class of the specific type of tip (the flanges) used by default with the SA6?

Good to know on the Shure yellow foamies, thanks tstarn06. If I need to avoid true IEM isolation in some situations (for instance, when outdoors on streets), do you think a non-flange silicon tip of the same size as the foamies would allow a significantly greater amount of noise in from the surrounding environment? I'm hoping that perhaps that would minimize the insertion depth discomfort I found with the Shures (as you describe with the foamies), while still allowing me to pick up on part of the surrounding noise when outdoors.
Thanks much to everyone who replied. I have a set of the Pioneer SE-CLX9's coming in this next week, and if I'm not entirely happy with those, the SA6's are next on the list. I'm stepping up in increments as I rule out headsets...  . If I'm completely sold on the Pioneers, the SA6 may still go back on the list after they come out with the Bluetooth adapter.
