Now that's comedy. Funny, but mine taste like chicken.

Been listening to the SA6s for 3 hours, no fatigue, no ear pain, just great sound. I will have to re-rip some of my best stuff though (Sinatra, The Roots), to lossless.

Anyone pair up the SA6s with a decent amp? I really can't say the Minibox adds much to the SQ, at least not with the Zune HP out or the Sony HP out. With the 716s, an amp is required, for both headroom and SQ. Not so with the SA6s, at least not that I can tell. I'd be interested in anyone who has tried using an amp with them.

Five hours of listening, and so far, no flaws on the SQ front. I did add a small tweak, but I am a shirt clip fan. I had a clip sitting around, so I attached it right below the Y joint, and it makes a major difference in terms of the wires swinging around. Nothing new, but I always find shirt clips to be mandatory with my portable phones (imagine clipping the Grado SR80 cable to your shirt?).

I've been using my SA6's with a HeadAmp Pico but predominately with the Pico's DAC as well so I can't really say how much of a difference the Pico's amp alone makes with the SA6's. I don't have a dock cable with me here at work today and it looks like I'm going to be working late tonight but I'll try to remember to pick it up when I'm home for a few minutes at supper time and give it a try tonight.

I've tried them with my Headroom Micro/desktop and found it to make very little difference. Also straight from my Corda Prehead (on low gain): not much difference. The sound signature changes a little using an amp, but they don't need an amp for sound quality.

Would it be considered a good, bad, or neutral thing that the SA6 doesn't improve with an amp? I'd personally say neutral but I guess it all depends on a person's budget.

I think saying it doesn't improve is jumping the gun and probably a bit misleading at this point.

x2 on that. But how nice not to have to use an amp for great SQ. Wasn't the same with the 716s or PK1s, though the Atrios were fine ampless.

I consider it a good thing that I don't need an amp to make them sound really good.

How much do they scale with an improved source? (ie, Pico DAC over iPod or Sony dap or whatever)

Nothing wrong with not improving - or demonstrably so - with higher-end source. I've tried mine both straight from my Trekstor Vibez as well as my iMod/Pico combo. The only difference I'm hearing is the difference in the sources. Of course you could argue whether the improvement in SQ is due to the better source or is the better source/amp improving the sound of the SA6. All I know is that Sleek Audio seems to have done a mighty fine job with these little gems. And their bi-flanges simply rock. First bi-flanges that have really worked for me. I have no desire to try any other tips with the SA6.

Good stuff for you on the flanges. As you saw, I found the Shure foamies a better alternative. But it's safe to say we are both really enjoying the SA6s. I have a hard time believing that a year from now, we won't still feel the same way. I just don't believe this is a FOTM phone. I mean, this isn't even in the same ballpark as the Vibe or any of the other FOTM phones which have passed this way. Again, durability has yet to be proven. But with a two-year warranty and replaceable parts, I feel good about that too.
