Default Sleek Audio SA6?

Are there better IEM's for the price, or are these probably my best bet? I've read so many great things, but I just wanted to make sure I'm not going to spend $200 on one thing while there's something else out there for the same price that's more worth my money.

Audio sources (in case it matters):
I'm getting a 4gb Sansa Clip very soon to replace the Zen Stone that I fried using a third party AC adapter (never doing that again), and I should be the proud owner of a 16gb Cowon D2 by the end of February. The Clip will probably be my "beater" player because it's so much cheaper.

As long as you are not a basshead expecting Superfi 5 EB level of bass you wouldn't be able to find a better IEM at its price. They are good enough to be compared to the UM2, Triplefi 10 and SE530.

But yeah, they don't have a lot of bass and that's why the ones expecting Superfi 5 EB level of bass end up being disappointed with them.

I'm planning on getting some Comply foam tips for them anyway, so pairing those with the Bass+ ports should provide more than enough bass. And if I'm lucky, by the time I have enough for these maybe Sleek will have released a Bass++ port. I'm not a basshead (you won't find me wearing Radius Atomic Bass's), but I do like adequate bass in my music.

I have seen that. I guess that means they're the best for the price?

Yeah, each individual canalphone will have numerous reviews. The best thing to do with the list is take it as a starting point and search for reviews on them to inform you of their sound characteristics. I don't intend on doing what the amazing ClieOS does. His is great reviews and can also assit in making a choice.

I am by no means a basshead, but I do enjoy it. The Sleeks have more than adequate bass with the bass+ port (more if you do the pin mod) in all the music I listen to, which varies from deep bass heavy tracks in D&B, House, and heavy metal, to music that requires tightness, clarity and punchiness like indie, alternative, post-punk, etc. Since re-encoding most of my music to FLAC/ALAC, in combination with the bass mods and shure tips, I don't even EQ on the iPod anymore (which is known to have rather weak bass).

You will definitely not be disappointed with the Sleeks. They were actually my first proper phone purchase ever. I've since tried a dozen different phones and iems from friends, and nothing compares (except K701's -- blasphemy you say!!). I haven't had the pleasure yet of trying truly high-end stuff (like the TF10's or SE530's), but everyone here will tell you that once you hit $200+, the law of diminishing returns applies heavily after that price point.

Buy them, enjoy them. You won't regret it, it's a sweet piece of kit.

There is definately adequate bass. And while if I were to have only one IEM of the ones Ive had so far it would be the SE530, but the 530's cost so much more I dont really think they are that much better. Its a pretty close call for me.

If you want a little more bass and the sparkle is fatigueing you then a fiio e3 is the ticket for me. Maybe the e5 will be even better.

I cant get that pin mod to work right. For some reason it made the bass bloated and artificial sounding to me but 99% seem to like it so it must just be me :-)

How do the SA6's compare to Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets (my current best pair of IEMs)?

Anything with the word skullcandy on it is not even considered around here. FMJ's will sound like crap to you after you get used to the SA6's

I owned these with the Klipsch X10 and the triple fis all at the same time. I can tell you that, running thru a 5.56 Imod with several amps, the SA6 was infinitely more "tuneable" to my likes, had as good a soundstage as any of them, and were quite comfortable in the ear--waaay better than the Triples, not as much as the Klipsch. BUT I felt sound qaulity was as good as any of them.

Hope this helps
