Shure SE210 vs Ultimate Ears super.fi 3

I'm buying a Cowon D2 as a portable player and I'm still unsure on which earphones I should buy.

I spent a lot of hours (reviews and forums) trying to find out a good, and I'm thinking to get one of these two:

- Shure SE210
- Ultimate Ears super.fi 3

I listen mainly to Metal, but I do not dislike listening to other genres (classical, hip-hop, rap, soundtracks, etc...). I like very much powerful low frequencies.

What should I get? The Shure or the super.fi? Do you have something else to suggest?

Ehmm...can I add the
- Sennheiser CX 95 and
- Sennheiser CX 500

in the mix?

id suggest neither, go denon or other similar dynamic driver earphones. a single balanced armature just isnt going to deliver powerful sub frequencies, not at that price point anyway.

edit: cx95 is a good choice, will deliever more power in the lows than the others

Cool. Just as your signatures says, music is flawed without bass, so CX 95 is the right choice between these...and they cost even less.

Do you have any demon model in the same price range of the CX 95 to suggest (that is a good/better alternative of the Sennheiser)?

if your after lots of low end sound then go with the sennheisers, they can really thump out the bass

I went from the CX95 to the Shure SE310 and I found the Shure's unbearable - it was like someone had removed the bass from the music. The Shure's were more detailed but had absolutely no power to the music. I haven't totally given up on the Shure as some people love them and trying to find that love in them as a second pair of headphones.

Anyway, went to the triple.fi 10s after two days of buying the Shures - these are just something else. If you are considering spending the full retail amount on the Shures, then look at a 2nd hand pair of TF.10's for the same price - that would be my suggestion.

You guys are really helping me out.

I was full of doubts, but finally you are pointing me to the right correction.

I prefer a little less detail but more bass power, so the CX 95 seam to be "the pick" for now.

I left my TF10s at the hotel today and went to the office - but had my CX95s - they were very listenable (even after being spoilt by the TFs). I guess if I wasn't so nerdy then the CX95s would have been fine to stick to - they are much 'lighter' physically on the ear and non of this wrapping of cable behind the ear. You won't be disappointed with the CX95's - and you can get them for well under half the price of the SE310s...

Btw, the 310s are supposed to be the "bassier" version of the 210s, with a 'tuned bass port'...

You need to go down to the SE110 (dynamic driver) or up to the 420 or 530 to get passable bass - even the 420 doesn't have a great deal.

I'd suggest the Super.Fi 3's with comply tips. Seriously, the tips it comes with do it no justice for fit. No wonder people complain about the bass

IMO, the Senns are only worth it if you're a complete basshead. In other words, midrange and treble mean nothing.

Good. I am practically convinced on getting the CX 95, but I swear this is my last question and I won't bother you guys anymore...

What about the Denon AH-C551? Do they perform a lot better then the
Sennheiser CX 95 (also considering that the CX 95 are 30 pounds/45 dollars more expensive.

From what I understand also the Denon AH-C551 perform well on low frequencies.

Well...when I say that I do love bass and don't mind having less detailed sound I don't mean that I do not care of midrange and treble.
I do not expect to have perfect earphones considering what I want to spend. I would like a decent balanced equipment...but with just better performance to low frequencies.

The problem with this is that it's still too bassy. It's well tamed compared to the CX300, but just not enough to cut it IMO.

Some people like a little bit more bass, but for me it destroys the balance. If anything, it's definitely going to be a warm sound though.

The Denon's are meant to be very good with bass, but I'm not sure on how they stack up against CX 95's.
