Hi ClieOS, and any other EX700 owners. I have the European version of these canalphones and was wondering is the SONY logo is reflective on yours? As it is on mine. Not that it makes any difference sonically, but I'm just curious. I'm also wondering why are there different versions of these??
Additionally does anyone know why the male tip has an extra bit to it?

ClieOS, great guide - a concise yet comprehensive evaluation of most IEMs that are discussed on this board. I do hope this will be stickied!

The logo is reflective on mine. AFAIK, EX700 is produced on China, Thailand, and Philippines, and production model on each place varies a bit.

The jack on mine are quite standard and doesn't extrude like yours.

There's a lot of fake EX85 around, are you sure you've got an original ones?

Got mine directly from the local Sony Style... I don't think they will sell knockoff

Hi ClieOS,
thanks for your reply. I didn't realise that there are seemingly so many factories!
Great to see another addition to your already comprehensive list!

I have that same 'extra' bit as aBc... I was just under the assumption that it was so that the jack would fit into an [original] iPhone??
Oh, I dug out the Sony BAM P1 amp, and matched it with the EX700... Good things happen

My Cowon S9 / Sony X1000 comparison - now cancelled - This comparison is better than I could manage!!

Got my EX85 from a store-it was a "E" model, purchased here at JB Hifi(australian electronics & music store chain).
My set has a series of Asian characters with "20070713" on the back, and a square genuine Sony seal on the front.

ClieOS-the EX85 has a smaller driver on the earpiece-plus the 13.5mm one surrounding it.

The information was copied directly from Sony Japan and I assume it is correct. The earpiece measured 15mm in diameter and it makes sense for housing a 13.5mm transducer inside.

I just want to make a small remark on the treble issue in the ranking of the Sony EX700. It is because I am 45 years old and my hi feq. hearing ability are deteriorating (which I´m not aware yet), but I find the EX700 do not sound harsh at all. The brightness is quite natural and I like how the fit in the sound image. I am a musician and for me it is important that the instruments sound as natural as possible but without loosing the so called fun factor, no too analytical. But the review is a job very well done and confirms that the triplefi10 are on my wishlist in case I get bored of the Ex700 which is not very soon.
