Recommend earbuds(OK/PK/RE) for skiing/snowboarding
i am looking to purchase a pair of earbuds to wear for skiing and snowboarding. i currently have im716 but they stick out out of my ears, and it's not comfortable to wear a hat over them, not to mention that it looks quite funny. i also have mylarone x3i but its too muddy and lacks details.
1. isolation is not important since i want to be able to somewhat hear whats going on around me.
2. will play rock/grunge/metal with some occasional pop.
3. good treble is important. i like big bass sound (hd650, dt990 kind) and i also like lean bass sound like im716. any amount of bass is ok as long as the quality is good. mids are not that important.
3. need to sound good from ipod unamped. i dont wanna carry my pico while skiing.
4. my ears are small but i guess its not a big concern since i'll be wearing a hat over my ears and it'll keep the buds in places.
5. would like to keep the cost under $100 but i can stretch it out to $200 range if the sound is amazing.
i dont know much about earbuds. i was reading some threads on yuin pk/ok series and head-direct's RE series. no idea what to pick. there are way too many threads and most are confusing me. are there any other brands that i should look into? q-jays or something?
please recommend something~!
thanks.
Consider what you are going to use them for, I'll say either PK3 or RE2 is more than enough to get the job done. If you are not looking for something small, I'll recommend PK3 over RE2 for the bigger sound.

I have the Q-Jays and they are very comfortable and I like their sound. They are the smallest 2 driver IEMs so they are very small and they are almost completely within the ear so you are able to wear whatever you want on your head. They got pretty good isolation so you might not like that if you want to hear what people are saying while you wear them.
OK2 or OK3. I think you can disregard the RE-series earphones because they isolate and probably will not be as comfortable as the OK-series earphones in earbud mode.

X2, but be aware the OK3 cable is LONG. Though that might be good. Sometimes, with some DAPs, the OK3s seem a little underpowered, and that could be an issue on the slopes, where you will need decent volume. Just my experience.
