Default [POLL] Which is the most desired in-ear headphones (earbuds)

I hae several brands to choose from and only their relatively higher-end ...to a budgetary limit...models will be listed. I'd appreciate everyone voting.

Thank you

go sennheiser they are always fun to listen to. Ety are like super analytical...I would avoid them at all costs.

Out of yr choices I'd definitely go Etymotic. While I wouldn't describe them as a 'fun' phone (as in excessively coloured, boomy bass, pronounced mids), they do allow you to get into the music in a way that belies their pricepoint. And 6i has bass improvement over 6 (that nice clean, detailed Ety bass) & is easily driven. I think you'd be surprised at how enjoyable Etymotic can be - the clarity contributes to your appreciation of your music IMHO.

But if you're a headbanger, or rapster (wondered why you included an EB model -at least I think that's the extra bass Crossroads)...maybe you'd prefer a more coloured SQ.

I do not think any of the earphones you listed above can be considered anywhere near high-end, but I picked the UE Super.fi 3 Studio since it does everything reasonably well for a reasonable price.

The MC XBi's definitely produce the bass but they have a problem with their cords. The set I had went rather stiff after about 2 months and shrunk away from the buds, exposing the conductors. Because there is no good way of repairing such a situation with these buds because of their design, the conductors in one bud finally broke after a week or so.

I have some picture of them below. If the material in the cords were improved these would be outstanding earbuds because they produce a very high quality sound all around.

WOW! The love for Etymotics is sensational. And this Poll is just getting started and the ration of votes for Etymotic versus the other wide with Ultimate Ears and Sennheiser half way near.

Also it turns out, I just learned, the Harmon Kardon buds are made by Etymotic or with Etymotic tech. I don't know which Ety's the HK's are based on but I would venture a guess the 6's

I would pass on all of those and get a Stax SR-001MK2 system.
But that is just me...

Unfortunately, regarding the HK EP730's, they arrived defective, well, at least, the left bud was defective. I couldn't do any kind of listening because of the hissing and static the left one produced. The right was fine and gave me the impression the buds would be outstanding...as long as both are working, though.

Good grief! That setup seems a tad elaborate just for casual listening of music. However, I bet that amp and bud set would provide some outstanding dynamics. Too bad it's way out of my league price wise.

Hey, great! Thanks for the info. I'll definitely obtain some foamies and try them. One thing i learned about the higher up Super fi's is the cord from each bud is replaceable. That's a great feature. They also include multiple drivers, one for high and, on the 5's, one for low. The 10's have two drivers for low and one for high.

I cast my vote for the Etymotic ER6. My most desired is definately either the ER4 or ER6. Very high-end and great isolation with those tri-flange tips.

Too bad they're WAAY out of my current price range. The two listed in my price range are the Skullcandys and JVCs. I actually have one of each(marshmallows and ink'd)
