Yeah, I was thinking it would've been appropriate to start up a pure C700 thread.

The JBL case is slightly wider and taller but the same thickness. I like the JBL case much more than the Atrio due to a number of reasons: It seems to be better built. There is an outside pocket and 4 inside (2 being zippered). I like the cloth facing of the JBL case as opposed to the pleather of the Atrio. The JBL tag on the front is very subtle as to the in-you-face Future Sonics Atrio Series rubber plaque. The JBL case does not have a belt loop though. This doesn't have any impact as for how I use it but I thought I would point it out.

As for your Vibes question. I would put the 220s just about in the middle. The 220s are easily a full step up from the Vibes close to two. So to continue with the scale let's say Vibes = 6 / 220s = 7.5 maybe 8 / C700s = 10. So I guess it is slightly closer to the Vibes than the Denons. Starting to split hairs a bit though.

Not a bad idea, should I add 'comparisons' to the title? I'm thinking we've all compared them to something else, so 'impressions/comparisons'?

Also, it would help to keep all the relevant info in one place, since they're still not well-known enough to have been talked about much in many other threads. It can save hours of searching and reading to have it all in a main thread.

EDIT: Maybe I should wait a week or so as I gave the Denon MD the link to this thread. If I change the title now, he won't be able to access it. . . and he'll think I made it up!

I can only say bliss with a capital B. The 808 has honestly been the hardest dap to match headphones with so far. It is (to my ears) quite analytical, and coming from the warmer 706, it took some getting used to. I loved the detail, but it sounded too 'crisp' and I wanted to tone it down (without having to EQ to death if possible).

I went through several headphones trying to get a good match, some I kept for a few weeks, some for a few days, and then some for a few hours. . but the warmth of the Denons is a perfect combination and tones it down enough for it still to be wonderfully detailed and clear. It's like the 'crispness' has been coated with a thin sliver of 'honey'. It's just the right amount to make a 100% perfect combination for me

EDIT: I bought Tony's Kenwood HD10GB7 (sold it since) and compared the 2 side by side. While the Kenwood had even more detail than the 808, I didn't find the 808 detail 'lacking' at all to my ears, and I 'hear' a bigger soundstage with the 808.

Wow! This Head.Fi world is too small! I sold that Kenwood HD10GB7 to Tony! It's been from the states, to Italy, & now to UK. I went from the Kenwood to the Trekstor Vibez... and that's where I'll stay for a while I think. It matches up with the Denons quite nicley. Enjoy!

I'll compare them for you later tonight so check back later. Off the top of my head though: 700s have much more refinement across the board. 350 had some bass bloat and not much in the highs. I had compared them to the CX300s with the C350s winning out but not by a large margin.

Little late with this requested comparo - my apologies. I forgot I gave my C350s to my wife and she takes them to work with her and keeps them in her pocketbook. But I digress...

I'll keep this short - there really is no comparison. Compared to the C700s, the 350's lower end is a muddled mess and the highs are severely rolled off and offer little detail. Putting on the C700s is like a breath of fresh air. The sound opens up, there is detail, the bass is so wonderfully presented and has slam when the song calls for it. And those luscious mids... By far I prefer even my JBL 220s to the C350s.

Of course everyone would expect more from a canalphone that retails for nearly three times the price but I didn't think it would be this divergent. The JBLs are fairly close in price to the C350s and they are much more refined and have a lot to offer and compare relatively well to the C700s.
