Default Klipsch custom 3 cable issue.

I really want to get these but is the cable issue really that bad? I don't want to get them and then have to send them back a week later because the cable fell apart. Can anyone who has had these tell me if they're even worth trying?

I treated my Custom 3's pretty damn rough and the cable is really showing wear after about 4 months or so of use. I think its peeling out of the mesh in at least 3 areas that I know of. If you take care of them I don't think it will be an issue but if you are using them at all when you are exercising or doing something else pretty active I could see the cable being an issue.

Does the mesh even do anything? What would happen if you just took the mesh completely off?

While this may be a separate issue, it's worth noting build-quality wise.

I used to own the Custom 3's, but after 4 months of careful use (always putting the back in the case every time), the sound in the right channel disappeared. The store where I bought them honored the warranty and replaced it, but soon after the rubber sleeve that surrounds the jack started to come off of its own accord. So I got them replaced again, and sold them.

Is there anything with similar sound to the custom 3 but without the build-quality issues?

Im surprised there is so much complaint on the C3 cables. I think these are the best cables Ive had on an IEM so far. I personally love the cloth, it seems very durable. My UE cables tangle much worse than the Klipsch. Cant comment on long term reliability though.

I'll chime in for the IE7's, they do sound quite similar to the C3's. My concern with the IE7's is the open vents on the top of the earpieces, they could be a point of failure with sweat and moisture getting in.

Only had them for about a week, so that's why I cant really comment on the durability of these things. So far, I love the cloth cables.

That's weird, everyone says they hate the cloth cables.

So should I just get them and hope they don't break or should I get something else?
