Next week sometime, hopefully, I will be buying a new set of IEM's. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the Westone UM1's. I just want to be sure these are the best for me before I buy them. I will be using them mainly for my mp3 player (SanDisk Sansa E260R currently, Cowon iAudio 7 in a few weeks) and for when I play my electric guitar at night. I listen to rock/metal, but go as far as a little Paul Simon and a little into blues (Stevie Ray, Storyville and Kinsey Report). I will only have about $120-$130 to spend. I'm looking for comfort and SQ, and an IEM that doesn't stick out very far (I like to listen to music as I go to bed). I do not like a lot of bass, I currently have the Sennheiser CX300's and feel the bass too much on them, but from what I've heard they just aren't very balanced SQ-wise. Basically, I just want to know if the UM1's are my best bet or if there is another IEM that would suit me better. I thank you in advance for any help.
Also, I think I should mention that my ears are weird. The small silicone tips of the CX300 are the most comfortable but sit just a tad loose and the mediums give better isolation but are less comfortable and a tad too big. They can push themselves out of my ears. Just thought I would mention as it would most likely effect recomendations.
I've only read, not heard, so take this with a grain of salt, but isn't UM1 one of the more bass-oriented IEMs around?

There are those who treat music as a convenience.
And then there are those who recognize it as an art.

That I don't know, but if I remember correctly from what I've read, they are lacking in bass. But that's just another reason, why I brought this up, I really want to find the IEM's that are right for me, and if they UM1's are bass-oriented then they aren't right for me. Thanks for bringing that up, I'm going to check it into now.
I had the UM1 for about 3 months or so. They actually have a very analytical sound sometimes I felt LACK of bass. but still they are very balanced overall. I think it should be a good deal for you. you can also check senn Cx500 in that price range but then that will add a lot of bass to your music.
Thanks, so far from what I've researched on my own and read from here, the UM1's seem to be the way to go in my price range. Unless anyone has a reason not to get them, I'm pretty sure I'll get the UM1's.
