lossless should be much easier for a decoder to decode - they are much simpler algorithms. however, if a firmware does has errors in it, that is the only time a lossless file can be muddled up. lossless are bit perfect - it is true that the decoders have a lot of influence however. so, when a person says she hears diff between the original pcm file and a lossless, it could be that the machine she used to listen to the files had as faulty decoder for one of the files, lossless or pcm.

That changes our perspectives and our expressions of them.
Based on my limited time with the universals at CanJam, I expect to be very pleased with my JH13s, and maybe deeply so, but I'm not going to be bowled over. That moment came at my first meet, when coming from my SR60/micro amp/ipod rig, I heard a HE-90 rig. Another moment like that came when I went from my ER4P/Ss to UE11s. Expectations and standards have shifted since then. If I say quite simply that I think the JH13s are good based on X,Y, and Z, my references for what that simple word means are listed in my profile. To add hyped up or emotionally charged language seems unnecessary and false, though if I hadn't heard or owned the gear I have, I suspect my tone would be quite different.
Let's see what happens when mine actually arrive. I'm still willing to be bowled over, so who knows?

Thanks Boomana! I look forward to your impressions. I guess I should be glad the maturity level is high and the impressions are grounded rather than the alternative.

I am definitely still waiting to be bowled over as well. I think the giddiness of my CanJam listening session is starting to wear off. Then again, it has been over a month since then.
ASR should have the set he won at CanJam soon, if not already, so maybe you need to start bugging him for one of his patented in-depth reviews.

It's a simpler algorithm, but it's also a lot more bits. So if you have 4 times the bits at 1/2 the complexity, then it's twice as much processing as lossy. Strange but true.
WAV is almost exactly the native format of sound cards, so it should be almost zero processing. Some sound cards actually do it in DMA with zero processing from the CPU. Media players likely do too.

I collected mine at 3.00pm (+8hrs region). initial listening was wow is this a IEM? because the bass is nothing i heard of. maybe hd800 or even better hehehe.... highs and mids is r10 standard. this signature is what i yearn for - combination of both headphones. soundstage i dare not say now because haven burn in yet.
at first look of the colour it is orange(not wat i wanted)! but after bringing against white light, it becomes the pink I wanted! yeah! so I got 2 colours in one! Lol
one of the drawbacks is my name on the box. alphabet 'A' becomes alphabet 'U'. I think they are too busy. The box is really big like 4 spectacle cases. Inside comes with only IEM and a cleansing brush/scrapper (where is the westone cleansing liquid?).
another is the case (scratch and dent prone) is full of scratches and dents but forget it... i don't care already... it is too big to carry out anyway... going to buy the custom ordered pelican case (with earphone plug on the outside, model 1030 instead of i1010) from uncle wilson when my pico returns.
the cable I ordered is clear but came in black which to me is alright.
overall the flaws are ok to me but not fully satisfied with the standard they have considering the money we put in. oh ya my serial no is 1270.
now enjoying the music while soundstage widens up...

Do customs really "Look" better than one another since they're made to your ears, and to your own desired artwork?

I believed the serial number paint will come off sometime cos my red JH letters have already came off. other than that the material quality is fine. looks like unpolished pink DIAMOND crystals haha...
Enjoy...

Congrats, very nice looking customs! I think you should get a replacement clear cable, though - I'm sure they'd look even nicer.

Thanks guys...
nope it is the same hard acrylic i guessed they need to insert a plastic ring in the hole where the output ends. cos one has a ring one doesnt. btw be careful not to let the ring part touch your inner ear cos quite painful like a scratch.
