I still have the ES3X in the lead at the moment though as i'm just not convinced of the need for 6 drivers. hell I couldnt even see the need for the 4 drivers of UE11 before this, so 6 leaves me more confused than impressed. at least at this stage

There is no way they could fit on the JH demos or UE demos - the sound nozzle was all wrong for the UM56.

Hi, great impressions. Abit disappointed that the jh13 might not live up to its hype. Any comments on the soundstage and imaging compared to the es3x?
Thanks alot

I would not be so quick to judge. A universal can, at best, give you an approximation of how the custom can sound. You still have to spring for the actual customs to hear how they actually sound

He stressed that the custom fit version would NOT sound as much like the demo in that frequency region.

That's funny. While I preferred the JH10x3s, it was because they sounded more lively and a bit brighter to me. The JH11/13s sounded a bit more neutral and flat. Even Jerry seemed surprised by my take on the phones, but I listened to them 2-3 times each and each time that's how they sounded to me. Might have been my Zune.

That just reinforces what I have been saying - that the demo/universal version of a custom fit IEM may not be representative of how it will sound as a finished custom fit product. And that the shape and size of our ear canals, and the position of the tip in our ears, and the tip itself will affect the sound in ways that are not always predictable.

I don't hype. I know a lot of people like to think that those of us who are excited about a product are doing so to hype it or to add to the hype. But I don't hype. I've got all sorts of headphones and have never gone on and on about any one of them, or at least not to the exclusion of others that I like.
So I won't hype now, even though I want to. I want to because the JH13, in my mind--based on my considerable headphone and IEM listening experiences, is one of the best products I've ever encountered--even as compared to the usual suspect high end full size headphones--and is clearly among the very best in the IEM world--probably the best, and certainly better than the UE 10 Pro which I compared them to directly and are an excellent product in their own right, but "Sorry, Senator, I know the JA13, and you Sir (UE 10 Pro) are no JA13"... and I want to hype because Jerry is a great guy in many ways, not the least of which is as a strong family man and successful small business owner who deserves our support and encouragement... but I won't hype.
I'll just say that I've listened to the JA13 and had a great conversation with an impressive gentleman who has done me a huge favor by kindly extracting another $1k out of my pocket to help support my headphone/IEM junkie habit. To call him a pusher would be completely unfair as it would understate his roll in all of this. He's a world class chemist who has developed an intriguing new way of adding more potency to my drug of choice. (Music, of course. Don't you read immtbiker's signature?)
It would be wrong to hype. I'd never do that... but I have left a set of ear impressions with Jerry (thanks to Head-Fi's good friend Uncle Wilson for that!) and am now in the process of evaluating various color and artwork options, and will be placing my order soon.. very soon! I'm thinking the Kansas Jayhawks logo would do the trick! http://www.sportslogos.net/images/lo.../full/2832.gif
