Oh. That's very nice, assuming they have removable cables.
I've never been tempted to buy a custom IEM. But now, I actually am. But I'll wait, save my money so I can afford it and read the reviews to get a general description of the sound signature. Oh, I'll also try not to get sucked up by the hype-tornado.

You'll have to stay away for a few months for that.

anyone from CanJam hear the universal version yet?? this 6 drivers thing has me a little confused TBH, EEPEEN all over again, soon we'll have people experiencing 'driver envy' ;p IMO the tuning on these will have been a nightmare. all the same i'm interested to see the first non-FOTM reports. might be waiting a while for that.

X2 and i'm also like you, undecided between this and es3x. Have people got to try this custom already? I thought it was revealed yesterday?

For armature IEMs, it doesn't matter if you have 3 or 10 drivers. Unless armature driver technology has changed recently, armature frequency response begins to drop dramatically starting at 16khz. If you look at the specifications of the JH13, it's only 20-20khz. In order to comfortably cover the 16khz-20khz range, the specs need to go to 25khz, at the least.

Most dynamic transducer based IEM also have sharp drop around 16kHz. So far, I only heard two pair of (non custom) IEM that can handle 17kHz properly. If I have to refer to spec reading, I would like to know (for the least) whether that 20Hz~20kHz is +/- 3dB or +/- 10dB. It will be pointless if it is something like +/- 20dB.

Talked to Jerry today (well, yesterday now) at Can Jam...he said he was able to get the JH13 to 20KHz because he developed a new driver and since he is using 2 for the treble. I did think they sounded pretty good, but not quite as good as the UE11 I listened to. But it was an apples to oranges comparison since the JH13 driver had yellow foam tips that never fully re-expanded, so the fit wasn't great like the UE11 with the Comply.
I didn't spend as much time as I really wanted due to many reasons, but they did sound very good (noticeably better than my IE8) and I wouldn't argue with the treble extension.

How about the build quality? The weight? Do they come with options for heat sensitive tips? I gather some on here are worried that they would be too heavy to wear comfortably, me included.
Does the sound sig resemble any iem now? Ue maybe? Lots of questions, hopefully going to be addressed in the next few days. This is getting exciting.
Anyway, thanks for the awesome first impressions

I listened to the 6 driver version and was suitably impressed. They do sound better than the UM3x (and they should given the price differential). Although I listened with the universal tip, the sound was quite impressive, with a very large soundstage (I was surprised, but have not listened to other customs); they sounded neutral to my ears, and very clear. And he gave away one of them at the raffle!

I was A/Bing with my IE8 and the model below the JH13 (JH12?) actually didn't sound great to me, not that wide of a stage and the IE8 had much better treble extension, but I did not really try to get the best fit/angle/seal since I was waiting for the JH13.
They seem small and light from what I recall, not much different than the UE11, and I would say with my short listening and relatively long break between the 2 that they do sound similar, but hard to really know, at least for me, without A/Bing them.
I do think my IE8 has a noticeably wider stage than the UM3X and W3 and with that being said, the JH13 didn't seem to have a blow me away wider stage, I think on par, maybe a little wider. I was concentrating more on the detail and smoothness. I do think the treble doesn't have the peaks the IE8 does and sounds more natural and smooth yet more detailed.

I got to hear both the UE 10/11s and JH 10/11/13s at CanJam. I'm really not up to speed on the latest IEMs, I'm still using my ER6is. I really wasn't planning on getting a new IEM but after hearing these I think I might be.
I listed to each phone out of my Zune directly w/o any amp. I listed to each phone at least 2 seperate times, going back an forth between the two tables.
First, the UE 10s really underwhelmed me. They seemed very muddy for the price. The UE11s were much better. Clear, neutral, good bass. Not a bad phone at all, especially for the CanJam price of 25% off and free impressions.
Now the JH IEMs I felt were in a completely different league. Jerry said he's spent considerable time fine tuning the designs since leaving UE to get them exactly how he wants them to sound and I think it shows. The JH10x3Pro immediately blew me away. Head and shoulders above the UE10 and possibly as good or better than the UE11. Of all the IEM they had the brightess presentation while still having decent bass and good details/clarity. The JH 11/13s I found to be very similar. Both much more neutral than the JH10x3s with slightly better bass. Maybe a little more clarity as well. Overall I preferred the JH10x3s because they sounded a bit more lively. JH Audio is offering a CanJam price of 10% off although no free impressions. Since his prices are lower than UE for the same offerings, I think I'm going to go with the JH10x3s.
