Yeah, I don't need triple drivers either.. But I'm still gonna get them :P
I thought all triple driver in-ears were dual woofer and single mid/high/tweeter, whatever you wanna call it. EyeAmEye will be able to tell ya, he has a set of the Freq shows and will soon have a pair of C3s as well.
I'm leaning towards the C3s, I am wondering when I would ever use a spare pair anyway. Might use them, I guess, I dunno, I will probably just end up getting the C3s.
I am also liking the look of the new Sleek customs.. At $299 for a single driver (which they claim is better than some $1000+ units *cough*UE11Pro*cough*) but I think I will wait till I'm earning money after my exams to buy them, as I am skeptical.. Anyway, they can be my spares (if I don't end up liking them more than the C3s!) if I end up getting them..
Upon discussion with my ex gf, who is far more helpful in this area than my current gf, she suggested I get something music-related on them so the two candidates are:

Queen Logo (From the cover of their greatest hits album)
Or..

Kanye Graduation Bear (From Graduation)
I was actually looking for the more classic Kanye Bear but couldn't find it, unfortunately.. But still, I am wondering if they're both gonna be too detailed. I wouldn't have the "QUEEN" underneath the first one.. Of course, I could just get the Union Jack on them, which would be kinda cool.. Ahem, anyway, this post is really long..
Oh and just as a little post script, got my PL-30s todaY!!

Nah, just going on what others say.. All the triple driver customs have 2 holes for the sound to come out of, right? If they were mixing the frequencies from different drivers, you'd end up with phase disruption which would make them sound crap. So therefore, two of the drivers must be producing the same frequencies, right? That's my understanding of the situation, anyway, but I don't have any or make them so don't quote me
What kinda 'phones do you have, slowth?
You like the bear, hey? Yeah, I think the Queen logo is a little too elaborate to look good small.
EDIT: Ah HA! I found the "classic" bear:

i've the freq shows and my understanding is that it's 3 way customs with high, mid tweets and a sub.. but those have 2 sound tubes as well.
but i'm pretty sure they're 3 way though...
yeah the classic's nice.. yeah on something that small too elaborate a design's quite tough..
a basic bold design looks great to me...
the shells are slightly trans so i can see the drivers.. definitely not double woofers..

Slowth, man, those look awesome! Does the little man mean anything or is it just a little design? I wish I could buy some Freqs Oh well, one day, hopefully.
I dunno, I'm sure EyeAmEye will come in and set it all straight I vaguely remember him saying somewhere that these triple driver phones all have two bass drivers and one mid/high but like I said, I don't own any so I can't really comment. I do know that HearYourself does use a dual bass driver cuz I asked..

Wasn't me, I don't know anything about which drivers do what. All I care about is how it sounds

somewhere on hear yourself it definitely says that the triples are 2 low and one high driver, so for me I don't think it will matter much, I don't listen to bass heavy music.

Haha.
So anyway, now I have a dilemma. Do I get the AE3s and AE1s as a spare for me? Do I get the C3s for the same price? Urgh, it's so difficult to choose, I do want the detachable cable but I would also like to have a spare pair. Decisions decisions.. I'll probably get the C3s, I think, but that could well change tomorrow.
The other thing is that I'm in Australia and, for some reason, our dollar is crap at the moment, for lack of a better word, and if I'd bought these like 3 months ago, they would have been almost 25% cheaper!

i emailed him but he direct me to my local distributor. But ordering frm the distributor will be more ex. So i ask if i can order directly but still no reply yet.
I like bass by the way so im gonna go for the c3

Gatto, If these are your first, get the duals. Otherwise you won't have anything to aspire to ( spend your money on) later.
Multi driver customs use different configurations. Hearyourself c-3's have bass and mid drivers stacked with each other and coming from one tube and a seperate high coming from another tube with a single crossover to distribute different frequencies to the seperate drivers. Some have multiple crossovers. Some have filters in the tubes themselves to shape the acoustics as it comes thru the tube Some have both. Ultimate Ears UE11 have four drivers. One subwoofer dual driver ,one mid, and one high with a threeway crossover.( They better for $1,200) Futuresonics have dynamic drivers (like reg. speakers) and no crossovers.which they claim are more natural. I think because our ears aren't use to balanced armature unless you already have high end. Sleeks are a single driver and have the same drivers as their SA6 universal so you may be able to listen to them somewhere as a universal and then decide. There are so many things to decide.
Google "balance armature" and " in ear monitors" and wickapedia has some interesting info on them as well as dynamic speakers (drivers) As you can tell, I did alot of research before I decide to buy the Hearyourself customs.

The sale's been going on for a long time Andresays the site is in the process of a major upgrade. (Some things, like the link to the alien ears models are still in the works but you can see kinda what's coming) He says that orders are on the rise so I'm sure the sale will go on as long as possible.
