As you can see from the number of my posts (2) I am new here. I am also new to IEM's. I am not an audiophile. My current headphones consist of Grado SR-60 and SR-80, Sennheiser PX 200 and 280.

I got my wife some HF5's for mother's day for the $100 buck price for her iPod and she likes them. I would like a pair for myself but not for $150 as they are Ok but the bass seems somewhat lacking.

I have read a number of reviews but I am interested in just a basic bottom line comparison.

On a scale of 1 to 10 if the non-IEMs (are these mushrooms?) that come with a phone or MP3 player are rated as 1 and the HF5's are rated as 10, where do the cheaper IEM's such as the EP-630, SoundMagic PL-30, and the CX300 II, fall? Would these be rated as closer to 1 or to 10? These can be had for $10 (Dell EP630) to $25 for the CX300.

You may enjoy this review. The HF5 gets a 10, the EP-830 (the model above the EP-630) gets a 6, and the CX300 a 4.

If you look for the best bang for the buck, look at my sig.

Hey, thanks. That review was interesting and almost exactly what I was looking for. Wonder how long it took him to untangle all those cords. LOL.

That review and others seem to be for the CX 300. I wonder how those are different from the CX 300 II or your CX 280 Sport II.

Look at my sig. I've done a short review of the CX 380 Sport II.

The HF2/HF5 impedance is 16Ohms? Must sound quite different from ER-4P or S. Wonder if you add some impedance if you can make it sound like the ER4.

From an iPhone headphone out I can hardly tell the difference between HF2/HF5 and ER4-P (ER4-P has 25 ohm and the drivers are technically the same just not hand match for great tolerance). With better frontend the ER-4 win.
