To my ears, comparing ER4S v.s. SA6, the ER4S sounded more extended and clearer. I used iPod Nano 3G, full volume with ER4S.

Should I order olives $14.95 as well?

A lot of people like/love the flanges that come with the SA6. I wound up eventually going with the Olives, but you might want to give the flanges a try first.

The only reason I don't use the SA6's included bi-flanges is I've developed a sensitivity to the material used in some of those types of tips and the SA6's are one of those that bother my ears.

Same here on the stock tips. My ears just don't like silicone materials for extended use. But I would try them first before spending more money.

I haven't owned ER4's but I've had a couple of extended auditions with them. To me they sound just OK, too dry, thin and analytical for my tastes though.

I do have them =) but compared to the IM716 they don't isolate as well still.

I would wait. I was someone who spent the past four years believing I would never find an IEM I liked tip wise. UE were the first that I could get a decent, comfortable fit, but they didn't sit very far in my ear canal. Then I tried the SA6... they definitely did their homework on how to make a comfortable biflange. They fit better than the UE off the bat and with the "ring of foam mod" I just figured out, I don't think anything else is going to do a better job.
I will probably order olives one of these days to see if I can do better, but it's not even close to a priority.
