Default FS: K501 balanced, price drop, worldwide

I am putting on sale my first pair of true headphones. These were bought new in box in January 2002 (I still have the ticket and original box). I have been their only and sole owner during those last 7 years, though they have been practically unused during their first 5 years (I didn't know the gem I had in my hands untill I discovered head-fi). They have always been treated with great attention and care. They are in trully mint esthetical conditions (even the headband).

Since I discovered the Beyer DT48, they unfortunaltely don't get much use any more, and I was looking forward to finding them a new loving home.

Recable has been performed with a Mogami mini quad cables, dual entry and balanced. Neutrik conectors have been used for all terminations. I will throw in a XLR->SE adaptor (Mogami as well).

Looking for €180 or $250 worldwide shipping included

K501 balanced album

Thanks for looking,

Some impressions in this thread, balancing my K501

Reason for the demanding price: add to the basic cost of the K501 a complete recable with Mogami mini quad and Neutrik terminations, and finish options which costed me above 90 euros without adapter.

Really really interesting...nice headphone, but quite over my budget in this moment (if only wasn't recabled...)!

Unfortunately, stock cable do not allow balanced operations (3 wires only), and a full recable is mandatory.

I can get a new k701 for 180 euro plus shipping. Is this that much better?

I have not heard this pair and cannot speak for the OP, but I have heard the 701 (very briefly) and initially I liked my 501 more (I want to buy the 701, as I also liked it, so this is a better of two good things comparison). Balancing would only make it better.

You will find lot's of thread in the main forum debating wether K501 are better or not than K701. However, the asking price make only sense to those who want to balance their K501.

Bump for those beautiful balanced K501... IMO, they totally outperformed my HD650 balanced
