FS/BO: Custom Woody Yamaha YH-1 Orthodynamic ***SOLD***
***SOLD*** (sorry, forgot to update)
These are now for sale for 190 euro + shipping.
I never thought I was going to sell these as Smeggy custom made them for me, but I need funds to get a new DAC (my 3rd Alien broke yesterday) and finish a few projects. So here they are...

(the above pic was taken before the recable, and the wood color is a bit off)
They use the drivers, headband, baffles and pads from a pair of Yamaha YH-1 (the large drivers orthodynamic famed for their sweet mids), and a Mogami mini quad cable. They have been damped and will come with felt samples so that you can further tune them if you feel like it. The pads have been reseated with strong double sided adhesive tape and are firmly in place, and the screws holding the baffles in place are new brass self-threading ones and grip everything firmly.
Sound-wise, they are the HP-50 larger brothers with a similar warm signature. And as Wualta said in the ortho thread, these are the only known full open back large driver Yamaha orthos.
They were not cheap, as I had to buy a pair (and prices have been crazy lately), get it, send it to smeggy, get it again, then buy everything I needed to fix the pads, recable, etc. Please use my email (ludo_at_qix_dot_it) as my PM Inbox is always full.
I will also consider partial trades with any of the following, in order of preference:
* a film scanner (or flatbed that accepts film like the Epson V500/4490/etc)
* old cameras (maybe, not really sure about this but you might give it a try) that are not worth a fortune, like '60s-'70s rangefinders, post-war folders, cheap SLRs, etc.

wow you actually put em for sale.
This is a rare opportunity folks! the YH-1/HP-1 in a awesome-ized enclosure getting around all the stock housings limitations.
And this woody is seriously good looking. This is a real treat!
Congrats to whoever is lucky enough to buy them.

I'm not really interested in a portable amp, especially one that sells for 165$ new. Thanks anyway.

wow ludoo - never thought the day would come. I do hope these find a good home..dB
as an aside , I heard them before ludoo tweaked them and they are superb sounding headphones and the open back gives them the headstage that many orthos are wanting.

Thanks for the free bump and recommendation. They really are excellent phones, and I'm surprised people prefer to buy the YH-100 to these.
