Hi,

Been a long time since I posted (or even browsed here).

I'm looking for some rechargeable batteries for my SR-71A. I've been using Ultralife Lithium Batteries for... well ever since I can remember but I'm having trouble finding them cheap any more. You can sometimes pick them up on eBay but the chances are getting smaller & smaller all the time so I've come to the conclusion that I need myslef some rechargeables to keep me plugged in.

I did a search on the forums to try & find some info on what people were recommending nowadays & only came up with batteries available mainly in USA which is no good to me.

Could someone recommend me a good set that I would be able to find closer to home & a charger to go with them? I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers.

I don't know what options there might be for amps meant for a home system (Utilized from my integrated) vs. a portable one in my price range ($100 - 150). Used could be an option, but if I were buying new, what qualitative differences might I expect in amps that are portable vs. ones that will stay at home? Most of my listening would be at home, but a portable would allow for the occasional use out of the house. I have learned about many good budget portable amp options, but what are some good home system amps in the price range, if any?

Two questions have arisen:

Can the D10 handle Pandora One sound from a computer? It is streamed at 192kbs. Don't know the bit level. I know that 192 isn't audiophile quality but I enjoy the variety of Pandora programming.

Can someone point me to a resource that tells one how to roll op amps in the D10 and how to order op amp Topkits by HiFlight described in many threads?

Thanks much,

So, I ran the line out of my CDP through a JDS CMoyBB and also a Compass. The HP were Sennheiser PX100.

The bass was much less tight with the CMoy, though the quantity was pretty much the same. This (the first part at least) is what I would have expected due to less powerful amplification.

However, the CMoy sounded brighter, if less refined, overall. For example, higher-pitched percussion sounded snappier, less softened.

I wonder whether in reality this is a thinness and harshness due to under-amplification. It's certainly not as smooth or easy to listen to over longer periods, and the PX100 do have a warm signature, don't they? This would mean that the CMoy can't really drive the PX100 even at low volumes.

So, can under-amping have this brightening effect?

The Compass was set to neutral/normal, the CMoy opamp is OPA2227P.

TIA.

The reason is, I have a pico amp/dac and use it as dac only through the headphone out with volume at low gain all the way turned up. Is it worth getting a pico dac only. It's the pico dac line out going to make a significant difference?

Hi,

Sorry am decently new to amps so I'm not sure if this will be a stupid question.

I am using the UM3X IEMs and I use them with my MacBook when I am home, and with my iPhone 3G when I am on the move.

Am thinking of getting a DAC/AMP, mainly to be used at home with the MacBook. My intention is to get more treble and soundstage out of the UM3X.

The D4 seems to have pretty good reviews, but considering the chip is exactly the same as the D2+ (well 2 of it, but still...), I am wondering, will the D2+ and D4 will perform comparably? What is the added benefit of the dual DAC? The built-in rechargeable battery of the D2+ seems better on the move, and the D2+ is cheaper anyway.

Other than the D2+ and D4, are there any reasonably priced DAC/AMP that I should consider?

On a side note, is the LOD cable from iBasso any good?

Thanks!

As many know, the Lisa III is considered one of the best, if not the best, portable/transportable amps. I cenrtainlly consider it the best. One "problem" is it was not designed nor intended to be used with ultra-sensitive IEMs. I think I've found the "ultimate" solution!

First, I've owned my Lisa III for almot 2 years. During this time I've had many of the newer, top level amps (Pico, IQube, P-51, SR-71 etc.), but the Lisa still bests them all. I listen exclusively with IEMs - UE11's - combined with an iMod and outboard caps. I also use my rig portably, all the time, at the gym, 2 to 3 hours per day. Yeah, this setup is big, bulky and heavy, but it sounds so good I mostly don't care.

Now the Lisa with IEMs is barely able to get much past 8:00 on the volume dial before it gets too loud. Minute twitches of the volume dial produce noticeable results, meaning a very steady hand is required in adjusting the levels. I initially contacted Brad at Triad and asked his advice. He directed me to Head-Fier "qusp" (Jeremy), said he was working with Triad and could help me out.

Well, help he did! The solution is large, not cheap, but the results are quite surprising.

With the attenuator in (it's also a quarter inch-to mini adapter) the Lisa III volume dial now runs around 10:00 to 11:00. It's far less sensitive to minute adjustments. I was not prepared for the sonic differences. In particular, the bass has been drastically modified. Before, the Lisa III and UE11 combo could be, and often was, quite bass heavy. This produced a warm, musically satisfying sound, but not quite true to the recording. Many songs I wished I could turn trhe bass down a notch or two.

No longer. Now I find I actually add bass to some songs, a wonderful feature. The Lisa seems like it has really opened up, detail is better, it sounds quicker, there in an added degree of clarity. As always, the treble is simply phenomenal, the best of any amp I've ever heard, by far.

Props to Jeremy, he's been great to deal with and does great work. If you own a Lisa, or are considering one, you owe it to yourself to check this thing out!

I've owned a Little Dot MKI+ for about 8 months now. It's a great sounding amp for the money, especially after adding the LT1364 op-amp.

The issue I'm having is a very brief "short" or loss of sound that I have isolated both the input and output 3.5mm jacks. It's very brief, 1/100 of a sec -- sort of like a "crackle." I'm certain it's an issue with the jacks. Either the positive or negative terminal inside the jack is shorting or losing its connection. It happens when you move the amp and either the LOD or headphone cable gets pressed in a certain direction.

Has anyone else experienced this with the MKI or MKI+?
