Current Musical Interests

My interests in music remain largely cyclical. Through a myriad of influences, I am always altering my selections to scratch the musical itch I have. This blog is an experiment in sharing my current musical interests with you, the Headfi collective. I don’t expect my ever changing cycle to stay in sync with yours; but it is my hope that your musical libraries may ultimately grow with material you will come to appreciate, hopefully love, with time. One important note to remember is that I will be focusing on albums I have a deep fondness for; there will be little to counter the positive nature of my reviews.

To start, I won't be adhering to a schedule; it will be sporadic. If I have a free moment at work, or am bored on the weekend, etc.

Best,
--Chris.

Posted 11-06-2007 at 08:15 AM by SR-71Panorama (Current Musical Interest)

This next piece is now in my top 10 of all time. It is The Dave Brubeck Quartet’s 1963 performance At Carnegie Hall. It is a Sony double CD selection that has been remastered.

To start, I should note that I am relatively new to the jazz genre. My musical library is largely comprised of various iterations of Rock, Pop and Metal, as this was my background as a teenager, and before joining...

Mark Knopfler - Kill To Get Crimson

Posted 11-05-2007 at 02:46 PM by SR-71Panorama (Current Musical Interest)

I recently picked up Kill To Get Crimson by Mark Knopfler, and have been loving it ever since. As most readers here already know, Mark was the leader in the rock band Dire Straits. I will just say he is famous for a reason; the man has TONE. This new solo album isn't so much about solos as it is about 'the broad picture', but he plays with amazing restraint, and wonderful tone. I would most definitely...
