Kenwood KH-K1000 auditioned

Posted 03-09-2008 at 02:53 PM by Sasaki
Today I went to Fujiya avic store to pick my HFI780 up.
At the store, I found Kenwood KH-K1000 demo cans and I tried a short audition with the demo.

My first impression was this is HUGE. But it fits good and feel comfortable.

As for SQ, simply put I'd say this is for Jazz and Classical type cans.
Not heavy nor overly energetic overall, decent and well resolved. Soundstage is not so wide I think, but this is not muddy and I felt good openness.
Bass is not humped nor bloated. Seems like mid oriented but I can not exactly say so at the brief audition.
Not bad at all and well worth to try for acoustic music fans.

any brief comparison to similarly priced cans like the D2000/D5000 or W2000?

AC has it a little higher priced than the D2000, and below the D5000 (around $450)
