This is a big weekend for Head-Fi Meets around the world, and I wish I could have attended at least one of them, especially the "Storm Before The Jam" Meet in Florida, which is a mild preview (yeah, like our Florida Contingent does anything mildly) of the kind of hijinks, fun, and gear the very familial Florida Crew is arranging for us for the upcoming Can Jam '08, the 2008 International Head-Fi Meet taking place in Florida on May 3rd and 4th, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the Embassy Suites in Fort Lauderdale on 17th Street....

(NOTE: This lengthy post is mostly intended for my close friends and family. Of course, should you wish to read through this long vacation recap, be my guest.)
I'm convinced that it's places like this that inspire writers (and even non-writers like me) to write. This lush, private, hedged-in courtyard, just off the gorgeous, perfectly green, sloped yards of an estate (on the center of which sits what is now my dream house)--with the perfect combination of sounds of a fast-flowing stream...

My Desert Brother, Chris Caracci, and his wife Kelli, made the Las Vegas Channel 8 News today, when the station covered their Ba'cho Nowhidee Wildlife Sanctuary, sanctuary to many animals, most of them wolves.
Some of the guys here that follow special ops and tactical training may be familiar with Chris as "C.J. Caracci," as, in the tactical circles, he is well...

Okay, he's not my blood brother, but he's like a brother to me. Jack Roush, Jr. and his two co-drivers finished fourth in the the six-hour KONI Challenge season-finale at Virginia International Raceway. They were the highest placed Mustang in the field!
They qualified 18th, and moved their way up to fourth, at one time taking the lead.
Great race, Jack Roush Jr., Colin Braun and Dean Martin!

I try to meet fellow Head-Fi'ers over the telephone when I can. Today I had a very interesting conversation with a Head-Fi'er who is working on an exciting, just-funded start-up that seems very promising. I have a feeling we'll be hearing and reading about his venture in the not-too-distant future.
He gave me a particularly helpful business tip that I plan to implement in the very near future. Thanks for that one, J.

Earlier this week, I got together with two old friends (one of whom I've known since I was four years old, the other I'd known since high school, and both of whom I went to high school and college with). I already own an iRobot Roomba vacuum cleaning robot (albeit an older model than the one in the preceding link), and it does an admirable job picking up in limited areas, its quality of cleaning being more akin to one of those manual-push Bissell carpet sweepers than a full-on vacuum cleaner.
