Meeting Head-Fi'ers Over the Telephone (and More Sennheiser Bluetooth with the BW900)

Posted 10-06-2007 at 08:54 AM by jude

I try to meet fellow Head-Fi'ers over the telephone when I can. Today I had a very interesting conversation with a Head-Fi'er who is working on an exciting, just-funded start-up that seems very promising. I have a feeling we'll be hearing and reading about his venture in the not-too-distant future.

He gave me a particularly helpful business tip that I plan to implement in the very near future. Thanks for that one, J.

We talked for quite some time, and found that we had a lot of interests (other than Head-Fi) in common, and so this is one cat I intend to keep in touch with.

On a partially related note, I opened the call by asking this Head-Fi'er how I sounded. I've been so impressed by the Sennheiser VMX100 Bluetooth earpiece that I picked up to use with my mobile phone, that I decided to pick up Sennheiser's new BW900 wireless office headset to use with my office phone. My interest in the BW900 started when I was talking to Sennheiser USA's Eric Palonen, when he asked me if I could hear the vacuum cleaner. "What vacuum cleaner?" I asked. "The one that the person is using next to my desk," he responded. I couldn't hear a thing other than Eric's voice--that's how effective its noise reduction is. That it also lets one talk through his office telephone while moving around wirelessly for up to three hundred feet in any direction was also a draw. Needless to say, the Head-Fi'er I talked to today told me the sound quality was great, and that he wouldn't have guessed I was on a wireless headset (this is the umpteenth time I've heard this, because, yes, I've been asking just about everyone I talk to on it how the call quality sounds).

First the VMX100, now the BW900, and both are home runs so far. I'll talk more about both products in Gear-Fi soon. I'm quickly turning into as much a fan of Sennheiser Communications' gear as I am Sennheiser's headphone division's products.
