The Black Keys - The Moan

Equipment: Dell Latitude D820> Kenwood KR5080> STAX SR44

Track listing:
  1. "Moan" - 3:45
  2. "Heavy Soul" - 2:36
  3. "No Fun" - 2:32
  4. "Have Love, Will Travel" - 2:34
This is an EP released by the Black Keys in 2004. The first three were, at that point, unreleased, the fourth track was on Thickfreakness. The Moan is actually one of my favorite Black Keys song. The drums are outstanding and the sound is the typical Black Keys - low quality modern blues. It makes me miss the sound they departed from with their most recent album, Attack and Release. The solo in this song is incredible -

Heavy Soul is seen on the album The Big Come Up and is just as good hear - a bit harder with different lyrics. No fun is (I believe a Ramone's cover) which was pretty good and Have Love, Will Travel is another great song. While not the best Black Keys release, this is certainly a winner and worth it for The Moan.

PS: Sorry for the brevity and scarcity of posting, laptop keep overheating - once I get the replacement all will be well again.

Well done. A coworker, a customer and I were discussing the merits of this release at work the other day. It's really quite good.

The Black Keys are a consistently excellent band. Attack & Release hasn't gotten old even with constant play, both at work and at home on vinyl.
