I retested the response for the ATH W5000... still has that low end roll off. They have a
horrible fit. I tried pretty hard to get a good, natural placement. The only way I can somewhat assist the low end is to tighten a velcro band around the cans (which doesn't truly simulate their normal fit on your head).
As I was playing with them I also noticed a horrible resonance in the metal frame; since the frame is coupled to the cans it is very noticeable... no bueno! Personally, I think the mechanical design of the frame and fit for these headphones is sh!#$y
