You think 4 points is bad?
Telica got caught doing 81 in a 50 mph zone on the Belt Parkway and besides getting a $150 ticket, she received
6 points (30+ mph over speed limit, she's a maniac) and then a month later we were informed that as of Nov 1st of that year, anyone who had 6 or more points on their license had to pay a $300 surcharge. This was not advertised to NY drivers license holders...NY just decided to implement it without any notification. If there are changes to the rules, we should be informed.
BTW- This also requires a DAT (desk appearance ticket) which means that you have to go in front of a judge and lose a day's pay, without the option of beating it. Just like making you sit in the corner for being bad.
Crime just doesn't pay like it used to. I told her that if she got another ticket, she was on her own (she's intensely frightened of judges and made me come along). Bear in mind that these are judges who couldn't make it in the real world and have to sit in traffic court all day. Saying they are miserable at work, is an understatement.
