120R SFI drivers - come 'n' get 'em.
Edit: As of 8/2/08 there are 5 pairs as yet not spoken for. Three of these pairs are matched to within less than an ohm. The other two pair are off by a couple ohms but this shouldn't result in an audible difference in sensitivity.
These will go on a first-come first-serve basis, starting with the three closer pairs.
I have decided not to sell more than 2 pair per customer for these last 5 pairs - so don't send me a PM asking for all 5 pair.
When these last 5 pair are gone, there are no more for sale. Unless you think you can talk me out of one of the two pair I'm already using myself.
Alright, here's the deal.
My original stock of these was 44 pairs.
After these are gone, I have no information that would lead me to believe that any more exist anywhere, outside of old swafuji 'digital reference' speakers. They were manufactured roughly 20 years ago, and these days Sawafuji Electric Co. only makes junk like refrigerators.
I'm asking $10 per pair in US funds.
Each driver comes with a standard reflex dot bearing the measured resistance of the driver. For an extra $2 I'll throw in a good sized chunk of acryllic craft felt and a good sized chunk of wool/rayon superfelt - enough to damp several orthos. If you want more than roughly 3/4 of a square foot of each felt, we can talk about that.
Pairs are matched to within 1 whole ohm, which is less than 1%. It is expected that matched DC resistance should equate to matched performance, since orthos are far less inductive than moving-coil drivers.
Shipping in the US is $5 for priority mail. I can fit rather a lot of these in a flat-rate cardboard envelope, so i don't anticipate having to charge more than $5 for any domestic order.
I am willing to ship these internationally. PM me for international shipping arrangements.
I prefer paypal. PM me for my paypal address. If you are in the US and you really don't want to use paypal, you can mail me a money order or cashiers check. If you are outside of the US and can't pay me via paypal, you might be out of luck. PM me to discuss options.
Although I'm turning a small profit, it's nothing compared to the time investment (certainly not at my regular hourly rate, anyway), and I'm certainly not going into business. I just stuck my neck out and bought the lot of these so that i could be sure they found their way to like-minded tinkerers. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Head-Fi.
I expect that most people will want 1 or 2 pair. If you want several pair for some large project or a short run of custom 'phones or something, you'll have to wait until I'm convinced that the majority of interested parties have been served and then we'll see what's left.
