Well, I used to own a pair of Etymotics ER-6 IEMs and... hated them. I found them impressively detailed, but shrill and lacking in any bass depth. Even when boosting the bass on the EQ, they still just seemed harsh and overly sterile.

The Atrio, however, is more musical and natural-sounding. The bass has weight: you almost FEEL it at times. It's just a more comfortable listening experience.

And again, the neutral, analytical sound signature of Cowon players pairs quite well with this, allowing the Atrio to color (mellow) the sound. The Cowon is wonderfully detailed and tight, which just works well with the Atrio. I just cannot imagine, with any EQing, that Etys would ever be pleasant to listen to with these players. But maybe that's just me.
