No, it's definitely not a stand. Picture a piece of cardboard about the size of a piece of paper covered in Velvet with little metal spikes sticking out of it. Really, they are not spikes but tine 1/4" metal spines that are easily bendable. On the back is something identical to the back of a picture frame that allows it to stand up at an angle. I'll try to to a pic to help things out.
