Default What is this? A Subwoofer Accessory?

Hello all,

I just got my Def Tech ProSub 100tl in the mail and have been playing with it all morning. Wow. I'm really stunned at what this thing can do. Ok, anyway on to my question:

Stuffed into the rear port (slot-type port on the bottom) was a 12x8 board covered in velvet with metal "spikes"sticking out of it at regular intervals, and a prop bar in the back to stand it upright (think picture frame on your desk).

It was in a plastic bag and the only reason why I noticed was because this bag went crazy when I played the first notes through the sub.

This might be naive, but could it be some sort of absorber/deflector for the sub? Or do you think it is just something that got stuffed into on accident? (might possibly explain why the seller wanted to get rid of it on Ebay...)

Anyway, I won't be embarrassed if it has nothing whatsoever to do with the sub, but I gotta know. I can't imagine what possible purpose this thing could have elsewhere.

P.S. I fits in the slot perfectly. I'll try to post a pic later unless someone tells me what it is first.
