I do think these will be a new experience for me. I typically use IEMs when flying for business which I do several times a month. I've used Shure E2Cs and d-JAYS pretty extensively, and have felt the need/desire to upgrade for quite a while now. That said the Custom-3 purchase was somewhat of an impulse buy. Prior, the q-JAYS were my top candidate, but I was hesitant to go that direction, knowing I would most likely need to use different tips than those provided (I've struggled with fit/seal/placement with the d-JAYS, but have really enjoyed them on the rare occasions when everything came together). Klipsch has done a good job of marketing comfort plus sound quality. I did get a chance to listen to the IMAGE earphones at an airport kiosk lately, and was impressed. The chance for even better sound, with an over the ear design was too much to pass up. My home setup is very modest, consisting of various iPods, a couple of squeezeboxes, a headFIVE amp, and Alessandro MS-1 headphones. I'm very pleased with it, and haven't felt much need to upgrade. Just thought I would paint the demographic picture a little more clearly.
