Regarding the 2007 Micro DAC, I see it as a big improvement over the previous model since the battery power option has been removed. However, since this DAC is not aimed at portable use, I would think it could (should?) be larger and offer standard RCA outs rather than just a mini line out, since people with pretty much any home amp besides the Micro Amp would be connecting via RCA cables.
Besides that, perhaps a USB vs. non-USB option would be nice. I personally would have no use for the USB input and as such would not want it there. The $100 price increase over the pre-2007 model makes it far less attractive nowadays, and I think pushes most potential buyers to plasticky and knob-laiden gadgets like the E-MU 0404 and cheap sweat-shop produced DACs (Zhaolu, Zero, etc.) costing half the price and even less and getting constant attention here on Head-Fi.
In my own case, I still lack a decent source for my computer-based lossless music, and nothing within a "reasonable" price range seems to fit the bill (when striking knobby plastic things and Chinese products sold through outlets such as eBay from the list). I sincerely wish that HeadRoom offered an affordable DAC designed for stationary home use. Or, the current MicroDAC could just use RCA outputs rather than the stero mini jack and cost $299--I'd buy one for sure.
