Well, the Edition 9 can be had for $1100 if you know where to look, but the places that sell it for that price are out of stock.
But if you want it right away, I have one for sale.
If you don't want to spend that much, the ATH-W5000 is also a great choice, and many people like the JVC HP-DX1000, though its not my cup of tea. The Dennon AH-D5000 has also been getting a lot of praise at $550. If you get any of these headphones, the maxxed desktop would probably be the better choice of the two, since these low impedance headphones benefit little from being balanced. More important is an amp's ability to supply a lot of current.
