They both do different things well. Depends on what source I'm using but end up listening to the 600 or 650's. The 701's are nice but lack the warmth I enjoy.I do enjoy their large soundstage and often listen to them with my tuner. The Denon D5000 are very nice but still somehow I end up listening to tghe 600/650's. That says alot as I actually believe the D5000 to be my best headphones for listening more critically.

Headphone Amps:RSA Hr-2, RSA Predator,Grado RA-1 amp Little Dot MkI,Little Dot MkVX2, Micro Dot, PVA2V2, The Ray Samuels Audio Gear ruins the other amps that dont touch my good stuff. My Predator and HR-2. Those are my real amps. The others don't really count. (I dream of the day I have again an Apache. I miss my old friend.

Sources:Talk Thunder 3.1b, Magnum Dynalab MD100 tuner, Tivoli CDP, Zen Micro and Zen Microphoto,
Zune 30 GB, Computer desktop ESPECIALLY FOR PREDATOR

Preamp : Pass X1(Feeds HR-2 through tape out)
Little Dot MKV or HR-2(both good, different sound) After listening in detail the HR-2 walks all over the mkV which isn't bad especially for that kind of money. The HR2 rules without much investigation.
Amp : Pass X250.5 in case I'm able to run my Hales T5's(small house 2 girls against one guy. I listen to music. The girls watch TV. I therefore picked up a pair of headphnes just for the isolationThat was my first mistake!!
