This is a very important decision, Legbone. The SQ of the headphones that come with the 800c is very poor compared to those of Pioneer's costlier DH models. I have both the SE-XBox (same as the DIR-1000) and the 800c. The good news is that the 800's transmitter is excellent and the headphones of the high end systems work perfectly with it. I bought a second DIR-1000 headphone to go with the SE-XBox sometime ago and it works beautifully with DIR800. I purchased mine from AudioCubes.com for $229.
Trust me, this represents a
major upgrade for the 800. The only downside is that one of you will be stuck with using the 800's headphone.
