As with any tube amp, you have to make sure the tubes are properly and securely in their sockets. I'm not sure what you mean when you say push them in as much as they can, I don't think anyone would recommend you put your tubes in half way.

At any rate, the tubes are pretty easy to get in and out. Some tube gear keeps such a tight grip on the tubes that you feel as if you're going to rip the tube off it's bass when you take it out, happily that isn't the case here.

Definitely plan on tube rolling. I'm looking at ECC82 and 6922 options right now, hopefully I'll have something to roll in by early next week!
