Resolution is greatly improved with better and consistent current in headphones, and everyone whom has heard the GS 1000s may have ran into this upon mating the cans with different sources and various amps.

Since electricity flow is measured in amperes of current, the size of the cable is an important consideration with these larger phones maybe??

As, the farther the current (electricity) has to travel, or the smaller the diameter of the wire, the greater the voltage drop.
