Atx, why did you buy a Portaphile if you already have an SR-71? Is it the size or just looking for something different?

I wanted something more suitable for daily abuse. I don't feel comfortable carrying a $400 amp everywhere I go. I'm liable to drop and break it, lose it, or just be unlucky enough to get robbed on the streets.
I initially bought a MINT just for this purpose, but the hiss on low-impedance earphones is quite annoying and makes music listening unenjoyable. So the one requirement I have is that the amp must be dead silent on low impedance phones, and the quality must be comparable to a supermacro. Before you ask, yes, the supermacro produced a hiss on my ety er6i, and also the one I had had a "humming" problem when I take it on the train. I'm too lazy to diagnose and pay for shipping back and forth to Xin, so I just returned it.
Btw, the sr71 is now my home amp (why not get a dedicated home amp? I believe a headphone amp should be portable. The phrase "non-portable headphone amp" is an oxymoron

). The mint sounds darn good, and doesn't have much resale value, so I'll keep it anyway.
