How to keep my DSP sound field programs?

Hello folks,

I have an HTR-5960 Yamaha receiver,

HTR-5960

When I plug my 'phones in the headphone jack of my Yamaha receiver, I benefit from many DSP sound field programs. I know, shame on me once again, but I like some of those programs with my 'phones (actually more than with my speakers, but it's out of topic here).

Now, I plan to buy a head amp, assuming that the sound is going to be better than through my receiver's jack. But, this way I will bypass the mighty DSP and gone will be those sound field programs...

I suppose it's the same with all A/V receivers... If someone else is in the same situation, is there a way to set up my system to get the best of both worlds, SQ from a separate head amp and sound programs from the DSP?

Pre-amp out to the headphone amp, or tape loop out to the headphone amp.

Thanks ! On my receiver,

REC OUT is 200mV / 1.2 kO
PRE OUT is 2V / 1.2 kO

No risk to blow up my head amp with pre out?
Is this why there's CD IN and AUX IN on some head amp ?

REC out is a fixed level, PRE out is adjustable. The 2V is only if you are turning up the volume all the way. It should be possible to turn up the volume only as high as is needed to drive the headphone amp, usually 100-400ma. REC out would be more convenient, and safe. With PRE out, you will have to remove the headphone amp to listen to your speakers again, when you hook up the PRE out to the Yamaha AMP in.
