Headphone Impedance

What is Headphone Impedance?   Headphone Impedance is the electrical characteristic of the headphone voice coil and magnetic field coupling of the voice coil & magnet inside the headphone. Foobar2000 A Guide To Set Up

.... Foobar2000 is a media player very popular in the world of Head-fi for good reason. If you’re reading this it is assumed you know more or less what it is. This is meant as a guide to get a functioning and reasonably good looking foobar up and running with minimal fuss. I don’t pretend to know half of what foobar is capable of but I was prompted to look for an up-to-date guide, and I couldn’t find one. The online resource for foobar2000 is at Hydrogen Audio. Any specific problems have probably already been answered there.   This guide is far from finished,... read more

A Hopefully Helpful Headphone Buying Guide For Newbies By Boomana

[ The following is an original work by boomana, posted on 4/12/09 ]   I’ve thought of writing a thread like this for at least a year, but since I’m home with a cold, and nothing better to do, I thought I’d start it out. It’s meant to provide basic pointers for newbies who might be a little overwhelmed, as many of us were when we first found this site. I tried to think of all the threads I’ve seen and what might be helpful in general terms. You can agree with me on things or not, and that’s fine. These are just my thoughts. Please forgive the typos I’m sure are... read more

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

The original thread discussing this article is here.   There seems to have been an explosion lately in "audiophile" music players for Mac OS X lately. Though iTunes wiped out the need for competition when it was introduced, it has become a huge, multimedia and store program, leaving many people wanting something simpler.  For a while, that was Play and one or two others, but then Amarra came on the scene. Offering higher-quality playback, it has become famous among audiophiles, alongside its biggest competitor, Pure Vinyl (and now Pure Music).  As those two have fought... read more
